Backflow Prevention

The City of Justin operates a Backflow Prevention Program as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The purpose of the program is to protect the integrity of the city water distribution system, as well as the health and well-being of the people who use it.

The state and federal requirements are designed to reduce the possibility of contaminants entering into the public water system through actual or potential cross connections. A cross connection is any actual or potential connection between the public water supply and a source of contamination or pollution.

Through these cross connection potentially hazardous contaminants can enter the public water supply. To protect from this potentially dangerous situation the City of Justin requires that a backflow prevention assembly be installed anywhere an actual or potential hazard may occur. By following the requirements of the backflow prevention program we can keep our water safe, and clean.

For any questions concerning maintenance, operations, or backflow prevention please email the Public Works Department.
